Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Iceland defeats Turkey 3-0
REYKJAVíK, Sep. 9, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Turkey by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Tuesday night at the Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík.
Iceland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Böðvarsson in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Icelanders further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Sigurðsson '76 and Sigþórsson '77).
The result put the Icelander top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Iceland will meet third-placed Latvia at the Laugardalsvöllur on October 10, while Turkey will face Czech republic.
