Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Netherlands beats Kazakhstan 3-1
AMSTERDAM, Oct. 10, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : The Netherlands defeated Kazakhstan by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Friday night.
Kazakhstan had started off well by taking the lead in the 17th minute with a goal by Abdulin. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Dutchs nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Huntelaar '62, Afellay '82 and Robin van Persie '89 on penalty).
The result put the Dutch third in Group A with 3 points. Kazakhstan is fourth with one point. In their next game, the Netherlands will meet group leaders Iceland on October 13, while Kazakhstan will face Czech republic.
