REYKJAVíK, Oct. 13, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated the Netherlands by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Monday night at the Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík.
Gylfi Sigurðsson scored dual goals
All the action happened in the first half, with goals from Gylfi Sigurðsson ('10 on penalty, '42).
The result put the Icelander top of Group A with 9 points. The Netherlands is third with 3 points. In their next game, Iceland will meet second-placed Czech republic at the Laugardalsvöllur on November 16, while the Netherlands will face Latvia.
