Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Iceland beats Kazakhstan 3-0
ASTANA, Mar. 28, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Kazakhstan by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Astana Arena.
Birkir Bjarnason scored dual goals
Iceland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Guðjohnsen ('20) and Bjarnason ('32). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Icelanders further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Bjarnason in stoppage time.
The result put the Icelander top of Group A with 12 points. Kazakhstan is bottom with one point. In their next game, Iceland will meet second-placed Czech republic at the Astana Arena on June 12, while Kazakhstan will face Turkey.
