REYKJAVíK, Jun. 12, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Czech republic by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Friday night at the Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík.
Czech republic made the Icelanders doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Gunnarsson ('60) and Sigþórsson ('76).
The result put the Icelander top of Group A with 15 points. Czech republic is second with 13 points. In their next game, Iceland will meet third-placed the Netherlands at the Laugardalsvöllur on September 3, while Czech republic will face Kazakhstan.
