Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Iceland beats Netherlands 1-0
AMSTERDAM, Sep. 3, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated the Netherlands by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Thursday night.
The Netherlands made the Icelanders doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurðsson on penalty in the 51st minute.
The result put the Icelander top of Group A with 18 points. The Netherlands is third with 10 points. In their next game, Iceland will meet Kazakhstan on September 6, while the Netherlands will face Turkey.
