Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Iceland and Latvia tied at 2-2
REYKJAVíK, Oct. 10, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Iceland tied 2-2 with Latvia (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Saturday night at the Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík.
The Icelanders started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Sigþórsson ('5) and Sigurðsson ('27). However, even though they were leading 2-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Latvia with goals by Cauņa ('49) and Šabala ('68).
The result put the Icelander top of Group A with 20 points. Latvia is 5th with 5 points. In their last game, Iceland will meet Turkey at the Laugardalsvöllur on October 13, while Latvia will face Kazakhstan.
