NICOSIA, Sep. 6, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Belgium defeated Cyprus by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Sunday night at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
45 minutes of play and neither the Belgians nor the Cypriots have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard with just 4 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Belgians second in Group B with 17 points. Cyprus is 5th with 9 points. In their next game, Belgium will meet Andorra at the GSP Stadium on October 10, while Cyprus will face Israel.
