Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Macedonia beats Luxembourg 3-2
SKOPJE, Oct. 9, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Macedonia defeated Luxembourg by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-2), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Thursday night at the Philip II Arena in Skopje.
Luxembourg had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Bensi ('39) and Turpel ('44), while Macedonia only scored once Trajkovski ('20). Trailing 2-1 at half time, the Macedonians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Jahović '66 on penalty and Abdurahimi '90).
The result put the Macedonians fourth in Group C with 3 points. Luxembourg is 5th with one point. In their next game, Macedonia will meet third-placed Ukraine at the Philip II Arena on October 12, while Luxembourg will face Spain.
