Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Slovakia defeats Spain 2-1
ŽILINA, Oct. 9, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Slovakia defeated Spain by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Thursday night at the Štadión pod Dubňom in Žilina.
Slovakia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Juraj Kucka in the 17th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Slovaks further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Stoch with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Slovak top of Group C with 6 points. Spain is second with 3 points. In their next game, Slovakia will meet Belarus at the Štadión pod Dubňom on October 12, while Spain will face Luxembourg.
