GLASGOW, Nov. 14, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Scotland defeated Ireland by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Friday night at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
45 minutes of play and neither the Scots nor the Irishs have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Scottish midfielder Shaun Maloney in the 75th minute.
The result put the Irish second in Group D with 7 points. Scotland is fourth with 7 points. In their next game, Ireland will meet group leaders Poland at Celtic Park on March 29, while Scotland will face Gibraltar.
