Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Ireland defeats Gibraltar 4-0
FARO, Sep. 4, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Ireland defeated Gibraltar by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Friday night at the Estádio Algarve in Faro.
Robbie Keane scored dual goals
Ireland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by English defender Cyrus Christie in the 27th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Irishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Keane '49, '51/penalty and Long '79).
The result put the Irish third in Group D with 12 points. Gibraltar is bottom with no points. In their next game, Ireland will meet Georgia at the Estádio Algarve on September 7, while Gibraltar will face Poland.
