MARIBOR, Oct. 9, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Slovenia defeated Switzerland by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Thursday night at the Ljudski Vrt Stadium in Maribor.
45 minutes of play and neither the Slovenians nor the Swisss have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Slovenian forward Milivoje Novakovič on penalty in the 79th minute.
The result put the Slovenians third in Group E with 3 points. Switzerland is 5th with no points. In their next game, Slovenia will meet second-placed Lithuania at the Ljudski Vrt Stadium on October 12, while Switzerland will face San Marino.
