Euro 2016 Qualifiers : England beats Slovenia 3-2
LJUBLJANA, Jun. 14, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : England defeated Slovenia by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Sunday night at the Stozice Stadium in Ljubljana.
Jack Wilshere scored dual goals
Slovenia had started off well by taking the lead in the 37th minute with a goal by forward Milivoje Novakovič. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Englishs nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Wilshere '57, '73 and Rooney '86).
The result put the English top of Group E with 18 points. Slovenia is third with 9 points. In their next game, England will meet San Marino at the Stozice Stadium on September 5, while Slovenia will face Switzerland.
