Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Slovenia and Lithuania play to a 1-1 draw
LJUBLJANA, Oct. 9, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Slovenia tied 1-1 with Lithuania (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Friday night at the Stozice Stadium in Ljubljana.
The Slovenians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Slovenian forward Valter Birsa on penalty in the 45th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Lithuania with a saving goal from Lithuanian forward Arvydas Novikovas on penalty in the 79th minute.
The result put the Slovenians third in Group E with 13 points. Lithuania is 5th with 10 points. In their last game, Slovenia will meet San Marino at the Stozice Stadium on October 12, while Lithuania will face England.
