BUDAPEST, Sep. 7, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated Hungary by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Sunday night at the Groupama Arena in Budapest.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by McGinn ('81) and Lafferty ('88).
The result put the Irish top of Group F with 3 points. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet the Faroe islands at the Groupama Arena on October 11, while Hungary will face Romania.
