Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Northern Ireland defeats Greece 2-0
ATHENS, Oct. 14, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated Greece by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Tuesday night at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens.
Northern Ireland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by English forward Jamie Ward in the 9th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Irishs further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Lafferty in the 51st minute.
The result put the Irish top of Group F with 9 points. Greece is 5th with one point. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet second-placed Romania at the Karaiskakis Stadium on November 14, while Greece will face the Faroe islands.
