Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Sweden and Russia play to a 1-1 draw
SOLNA, Oct. 9, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Sweden tied 1-1 with Russia (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Thursday night at the Friends Arena in Solna.
The Russians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Russian forward Aleksandr Kokorin in the 10th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Sweden with a saving goal from Swedish forward Ola Toivonen in the 49th minute.
The result put the Russians top of Group G with 4 points. Sweden is fourth with 2 points. In their next game, Russia will meet Moldova at the Friends Arena on October 12, while Sweden will face Liechtenstein.
