Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Austria defeats Sweden 4-1
SOLNA, Sep. 8, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Austria defeated Sweden by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Tuesday night at the Friends Arena in Solna.
Martin Harnik scored dual goals
Austria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Alaba ('9 on penalty) and Harnik ('38). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Austrians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Janko '77 and Harnik '88).
The result put the Austrians top of Group G with 22 points. Sweden is fourth with 12 points. In their next game, Austria will meet third-placed Montenegro at the Friends Arena on October 9, while Sweden will face Liechtenstein.
