Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Bulgaria beats Azerbaijan 2-1
BAKU, Sep. 9, 2014 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Bulgaria defeated Azerbaijan by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Tuesday night at the Bakcell Arena in Baku.
Bulgaria dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Mitsanski in the 14th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Bulgarians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by V. Hristov with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Bulgarians top of Group H with 3 points. In their next game, Bulgaria will meet group leaders Croatia at the Bakcell Arena on October 10, while Azerbaijan will face Italy.
