Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Azerbaijan beats Malta 2-0
BAKU, Mar. 28, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Azerbaijan defeated Malta by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Saturday night at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku.
Azerbaijan dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Huseynov in the 4th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Azerbaijanis further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Nazarov in stoppage time.
The result put the Azerbaijani 5th in Group H with 3 points. Malta is bottom with one point. In their next game, Azerbaijan will meet third-placed Norway at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium on June 12, while Malta will face Bulgaria.
