Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Italy beats Azerbaijan 3-1
BAKU, Oct. 10, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Italy defeated Azerbaijan by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Saturday night at the Baku National Stadium.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to goals from Éder ('11) and Stephan El Shaarawy ('43). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Darmian in the 65th minute.
The result put the Italians top of Group H with 21 points. Azerbaijan is 5th with 6 points. In their last game, Italy will meet second-placed Norway at the Baku National Stadium on October 13, while Azerbaijan will face Bulgaria.
