Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Albania defeats Armenia 2-1
ELBASAN, Mar. 29, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Albania defeated Armenia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Sunday night at the Elbasan Arena.
Armenia had started off well by taking the lead in the 4th minute with an own goal by defender Mergim Mavraj. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Albanians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Mavraj '77 and Gashi '81).
The result put the Albanians top of Group I with 8 points. Armenia is bottom with one point. In their next game, Albania will meet second-placed Denmark at the Elbasan Arena on September 4, while Armenia will face Portugal.
