Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Portugal beats Serbia 2-1
LISBON, Mar. 29, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Portugal defeated Serbia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Sunday night at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon.
Portugal dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Ricardo Carvalho in the 10th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Portugueses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Coentrão in the 63rd minute.
The result put the Portuguese top of Group I with 9 points. Serbia is fourth with 2 points. In their next game, Portugal will meet Armenia at the Estádio da Luz on June 13, while Serbia will face Denmark.
