Euro 2016 Qualifiers : Portugal beats Albania 1-0
ELBASAN, Sep. 7, 2015 (AMP) — France 2016 (Qualifiers) : Portugal defeated Albania by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2016 UEFA European Championship on Monday night at the Elbasan Arena.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Portuguese midfielder Miguel Veloso in stoppage time.
The result put the Portuguese top of Group I with 15 points. Albania is third with 9 points. In their next game, Portugal will meet second-placed Denmark at the Elbasan Arena on October 8, while Albania will face Serbia.
