LIVERPOOL, Feb. 19, 2015 (AMP) — Europa League 2014-15 : Liverpool defeated Besiktas by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in the first leg of a round of 32 game on Thursday night at Anfield in Liverpool.

Besiktas made Liverpool doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Italian forward Mario Balotelli on penalty with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.

The second leg between Liverpool and Besiktas will be played on Thursday February 26, 2015 (kick-off: 19:00) in Istanbul.
