Europa League 2015-16 : Rapid Vienna beats Villarreal 2-1

VIENNA, Sep. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Europa League 2015-16 : Rapid Vienna defeated Villarreal by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.

Villarreal had started off well by taking the lead in the 45th minute with a goal by Baptistão. Trailing 1-0 at half time, Die Grün-Weißen nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Schwab '50 and S. Hofmann '53 on penalty).

The result put Rapid Vienna second in Group E with 3 points. In their next game, Rapid Vienna will meet Dinamo Minsk at the Ernst Happel Stadium on October 1, while Villarreal will face Viktoria Plzen.
