Europa League 2016-17 : Astana defeats APOEL 2-1

ASTANA, Nov. 24, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : FC Astana defeated APOEL Nicosia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Astana Arena.

APOEL Nicosia had started off well by taking the lead in the 31st minute with a goal by Efrem Giorgos. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Blue and Yellows nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Anicic Marin '59 and Despotovic Dorde '84).

The result put APOEL top of Group B with 9 points. Astana is third with 5 points. In their last game, APOEL Nicosia will meet second-placed Olympiacos at the Astana Arena on December 8, while FC Astana will face Young Boys.
