Europa League 2016-17 : Mainz 05 beats Qabala 3-2

BAKU, Sep. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Mainz defeated Qabala by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Bakcell Arena in Baku.

Mainz dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Muto in the 41st minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the O-Fives further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Córdoba '68 and Öztunalı '78).

The result put Mainz 05 top of Group C with 4 points. Qabala is bottom with no points. In their next game, Mainz will meet second-placed Anderlecht at the Bakcell Arena on October 20, while Qabala will face Saint-Etienne.
