Europa League 2016-17 : Mainz 05 hold Anderlecht to 1-1

MAINZ, Oct. 20, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Mainz tied 1-1 with Anderlecht (halftime: 1-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Opel Arena in Mainz.

Mainz players started off well by taking the lead thanks to Mainz midfielder Yunus Malli on penalty in the 10th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Anderlecht with a saving goal from Teodorczyk Lukasz in the 65th minute.

The result put Anderlecht top of Group C with 5 points. Mainz 05 is second with 5 points. In their next game, Anderlecht will meet second-placed Mainz at the Opel Arena on November 3, while Mainz will face Anderlecht.
