Europa League 2016-17 : Zenit beats Maccabi 4-3

NETANYA, Sep. 15, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Zenit St Petersburg defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv by a score of 4-3 (halftime: 0-1), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Netanya Stadium.

Maccabi Tel Aviv had started off well by taking the lead in the 26th minute with a goal by Bosnian midfielder Haris Medunjanin. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the “Blue-White-Sky Blues” nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring four times in the second period (Kokorin '77, Maurício '84, Giuliano '86 and Đorđević '90).

The result put Zenit top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Zenit St Petersburg will meet second-placed AZ Alkmaar at the Netanya Stadium on September 29, while Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Dundalk.
