Europa League 2016-17 : Zenit beats AZ 5-0

SAINT PETERSBURG, Sep. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Zenit St Petersburg defeated AZ Alkmaar by a big score of 5-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Petrovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.

Aleksandr Kokorin scored dual goals

Zenit St Petersburg dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Aleksandr Kokorin in the 26th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the “Blue-White-Sky Blues” further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Giuliano '48, Kokorin '59, Criscito '66/penalty and Shatov '80).

The result put Zenit top of Group D with 6 points. AZ is third with one point. In their next game, Zenit St Petersburg will meet second-placed Dundalk at the Petrovsky Stadium on October 20, while AZ Alkmaar will face Maccabi Tel Aviv.
