Europa League 2016-17 : Maccabi beats AZ 2-1

ALKMAAR, Oct. 20, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated AZ Alkmaar by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the AFAS Stadion in Alkmaar.

Maccabi Tel Aviv dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Scarione Oscar in the 24th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the “Yellows” further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Golasa Eyal with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.

The result put Maccabi third in Group D with 3 points. AZ is bottom with one point. In their next game, Maccabi Tel Aviv will meet AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on November 3, while AZ Alkmaar will face Maccabi Tel Aviv.
