Europa League 2016-17 : Zenit defeats Maccabi 2-0

SAINT PETERSBURG, Nov. 24, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Zenit St Petersburg defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Petrovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.

Zenit St Petersburg dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Kokorin Aleksandr in the 44th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the “Blue-White-Sky Blues” further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Kerzhakov Aleksandr in stoppage time.

The result put Zenit top of Group D with 15 points. Maccabi is third with 4 points. In their last game, Zenit St Petersburg will meet AZ Alkmaar at the Petrovsky Stadium on December 8, while Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Dundalk.
