Europa League 2016-17 : Genk defeats Sassuolo 3-1

GENK, Sep. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Genk defeated Sassuolo by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Luminus Arena in Genk.

Genk dominated the first half thanks to goals from Karelis Nikolaos ('8) and Bailey Leon ('25). Leading 2-0 at the break, Genk players further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Buffel Thomas in the 61st minute.

The result put Genk top of Group F with 3 points. Sassuolo is second with 3 points. In their next game, Genk will meet Athletic Bilbao at the Luminus Arena on October 20, while Sassuolo will face Rapid Vienna.
