Europa League 2016-17 : Liege and Panathinaikos play to a 2-2 draw

LIèGE, Oct. 20, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Standard Liege tied 2-2 with Panathinaikos (halftime: 1-2), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Liège.

Panathinaikos players started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Ibarbo Victor ('12, '36) while Standard Liege only scored once Edmilson Junior ('45 on penalty). However, even though they were leading 2-1 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Standard Liege with a saving goal from Algerian forward Ishak Belfodil in the 82nd minute.

The result put Liege third in Group G with 2 points. Panathinaikos is bottom with one point. In their next game, Standard Liege will meet Panathinaikos at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne on November 3, while Panathinaikos will face Standard Liege.
