Europa League 2016-17 : Shakhtar beats Gent 5-0

LVIV, Oct. 20, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Gent by a big score of 5-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Arena Lviv.

Shakhtar Donetsk dominated the first half thanks to goals from Kovalenko Viktor ('12) and Ferreyra ('30). Leading 2-0 at the break, the “Hirnyky” further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Bernard '46, Taison '75 and Malyshev Maksym '85).

The result put Shakhtar top of Group H with 9 points. Gent is second with 4 points. In their next game, Shakhtar Donetsk will meet second-placed Gent at the Arena Lviv on November 3, while Gent will face Shakhtar Donetsk.
