Europa League 2016-17 : Shakhtar defeats Gent 5-3

GHENT, Nov. 3, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Gent by a score of 5-3 (halftime: 3-1), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the AFG Arena in Ghent.

Gent opened the score in the score in the 1st minute thanks to Coulibaly Kalifa, before Shakhtar Donetsk regained the advantage with Marlos Bonfim ('36 on penalty), Taison Barcellos ('41) and Stepanenko Taras ('45). Leading 3-1 at the break, the “Hirnyky” further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Fred Santos '68 and Ferreyra '87).

The result put Shakhtar top of Group H with 12 points. Gent is third with 4 points. In their next game, Shakhtar Donetsk will meet Konyaspor at the AFG Arena on November 24, while Gent will face Braga.
