Europa League 2016-17 : Southampton beats Inter 2-1

SOUTHAMPTON, Nov. 3, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Southampton defeated Inter Milan by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the St Mary's Stadium in Southampton.

Inter Milan had started off well by taking the lead in the 33rd minute with a goal by Argentine forward Mauro Icardi. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Saints nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Van Dijk Virgil '64 and Nagatomo '70 own).

The result put Southampton second in Group K with 7 points. Inter is bottom with 3 points. In their next game, Southampton will meet group leaders Sparta Prague at the St Mary's Stadium on November 24, while Inter Milan will face Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
