Europa League 2016-17 : Genk defeats Gent 5-2

GHENT, Mar. 9, 2017 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Genk defeated Gent by a score of 5-2 (halftime: 4-1), in the first leg of a round of 16 game on Thursday night at the AFG Arena in Ghent.

Samatta Mbwana scored dual goals

Genk dominated the first half thanks to goals from Malinovskiy Ruslan ('21), Colley Omar ('33), Samatta Mbwana ('41) and Uronen Jere ('45). Leading 4-1 at the break, Genk players further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Samatta Mbwana in the 72nd minute.

The second leg between Gent and Genk will be played on Thursday March 16, 2017 (kick-off: 19:00) in Genk.
