Europa League 2016-17 : Bilbao defeats APOEL 3-2

BILBAO, Feb. 16, 2017 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 : Athletic Bilbao defeated APOEL Nicosia by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-1), in the first leg of a round of 32 game on Thursday night at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.

Efrem Giorgos opened the score in the 36th minute, before seeing Athletic Bilbao catch up in the 38th minute thanks to Merkis Giorgos own goal. 1-1 at half time. Los Leones eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Aduriz ('61) and Williams ('72).

The second leg between Athletic Bilbao and APOEL Nicosia will be played on Thursday February 23, 2017 (kick-off: 19:00) in Nicosia.
