Europa League 2016-17 Qualifiers : Shakhtar beats Istanbul Basaksehir 2-1

ISTANBUL, Aug. 18, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 (Qualifiers) : Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Istanbul Basaksehir by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in the first leg of a Europa League qualifier tie on Thursday night at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium.

Shakhtar Donetsk dominated the first half thanks to goals from Cikalleshi ('24 own) and Kovalenko ('41). Leading 2-0 at the break, the “Hirnyky” further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.

The second leg between Istanbul Basaksehir and Shakhtar Donetsk will be played on Thursday August 25, 2016 (kick-off: 21:00) in Lviv.
