Europa League 2016-17 Qualifiers : Gent beats Shkendija 2-1

GHENT, Aug. 18, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 (Qualifiers) : Gent defeated Shkendija by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in the first leg of a Europa League qualifier tie on Thursday night at the AFG Arena in Ghent.

Ibraimi Besart opened the score in the 9th minute, before seeing Gent catch up in the 45th minute thanks to Matton Thomas. 1-1 at half time. The “Buffalos” eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Coulibaly Kalifa in stoppage time.

The second leg between Gent and Shkendija will be played on Thursday August 25, 2016 (kick-off: 20:00) in Skopje.
