Europa League 2016-17 Qualifiers : Astana held to a 2-2 draw by BATE but qualifies for Europa League

BORISOV, Aug. 25, 2016 (AMP) — Europa League 2016-17 (Qualifiers) : BATE Borisov tied 2-2 with FC Astana (halftime: 1-0), in the second leg of a qualifying game on Thursday night at the Borisov Arena.

BATE Borisov players started off well by taking the lead thanks to Gordeichuk Mikhail in the 27th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Stasevich Igor goal on penalty ('89) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by FC Astana with goals by Maksimovic Nemanja ('50) and Twumasi Patrick ('76).

Astana, who won the first leg (2-0), secured their ticket to the Europa League finals. BATE is eliminated.
