Europa League 2017-18 : Villarreal beats Astana 3-1

VILLARREAL, Sep. 14, 2017 (AMP) — Europa League 2017-18 : Villarreal defeated FC Astana by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Estadio de la Cerámica in Villarreal.

Villarreal dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Italian forward Nicola Sansone in the 16th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, El Submarino Amarillo further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Bakambu Cedric '75 and Cheryshev '77).

The result put Villarreal top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Villarreal will meet third-placed Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Estadio de la Cerámica on September 28, while FC Astana will face Slavia Prague.
