ATHENS, Nov. 23, 2017 (AMP) — Europa League 2017-18 : AEK Athens tied 2-2 with Rijeka (halftime: 1-2), in a Europa League group stage game on Thursday night at the Olympic Stadium in Athens.
Rijeka players started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Gorgon Alexander ('8, '26) while AEK Athens only scored once Araujo Sergio ('45). However, even though they were leading 2-1 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by AEK Athens with a saving goal from AEK Athens midfielder Lazaros Christodoulopoulos in the 55th minute.
The result put AEK FC second in Group D with 7 points. Rijeka is third with 4 points. In their last game, AEK Athens will meet Austria Vienna at the Olympic Stadium on December 7, while Rijeka will face AC Milan.
