Jan. 18, 2017 (AMP) — FA Cup 2016-17 : Newcastle defeated Birmingham City by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in the FA Cup third round on Wednesday night.

Newcastle dominated the first half thanks to goals from Ritchie Matt ('9 on penalty) and Gouffran Yoan ('34). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Magpies further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Ritchie Matt in stoppage time.
