USA beats El Salvador to advance to Gold Cup semifinals
BALTIMORE, Jul. 21, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : The United States reached the semifinals of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 5-1 win against El Salvador (halftime: 2-1) on Sunday afternoon at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
The United States dominated the first half thanks to goals from Goodson ('21) and Corona ('29). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Americans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Johnson '60, Donovan '78 and Diskerud '83).
