League Cup 2014-15 : Reading beats Newport 3-1 to qualify for next round

READING, Aug. 12, 2014 (AMP) — League Cup 2014-15 : Reading defeated Newport County by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in the League Cup first round on Tuesday night at the Madejski Stadium in Reading.

Reading dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Russian forward Pavel Pogrebnyak in the 20th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Royals further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Blackman '87 and Tanner '90).
