Aug. 9, 2016 (AMP) — League Cup 2016-17 : Preston defeated Hartlepool United by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in the League Cup first round on Tuesday night.

Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Doyle Eoin in stoppage time.
